However, the content of the photographs indicate it was compiled by a member of staff working at the hospital. One of the images is labelled "self" and the nurse photographed resembles Alice Clara Searell, who nursed at the hospital between 1920 and 1934, becoming matron in 1924. Two similar albums are owned by the National Army Museum, for which she was the creator.

-The hospital buildings and grounds.
-A range of patients. The hospital initially offered care for convalescing servicemen. those photographed in this album include American Marines, Japanese Marines and English sailors. Also pictured are children who became the focus of care following an outbreak of polio.
-Recreation: Nurses and patients are pictured playing tennis and bowls, attending picnics, and enjoying parties.
-Local scenes and landmarks also feature. Including: Ōhinemutu; Pōhutu geyser; Ōkere Falls and Powerstation; Mokoia Island; Ngongotahā; Lake Rotoiti; Wairoa; Whakarewarewa; Waimangu.
